the new job..

so this week has been INCREDIBLY insane at work...

first day-wedding reception for 2 of the residents, they are adorable and just got married. :)
second day-i got thrown in to lunch because we had some people not be able to come because of the snow and they didnt schedule enough people..
third day-getting the hang of things, one person was fired and the other couldnt come in because of the snow.....so we were short 2 people..
fourth day-lunch was just me and the dining room manager, and both of us are new and didnt know names of all the residents AND she had meetings so i was by myself. the residents were VERY understanding of me having to ask their names to see what they wanted. then after lunch we were getting ready for dinner and the ceiling sprung a leak. then before we knew it the whole dining room had water and it was leaking from the can lights and out of the columns and coming out of the outlets. it was insane! we moved all the furniture out of the dining room, a room where they put a puzzle together and the cafe. we were scrambling to get dinner orders taken to serve upstairs in the country kitchen, where it normally seats 38 people was seating 70, very uncomfortably. it was incredibly insane. i ran up and down the stairs multiple times because of trying to get the food up to them in a reasonable amount of time and they were telling us not to use the elevators.
fifth day-serving upstairs all the meals in the country kitchen buffet style. i think we worked out all the kinks today so hopefully it will run more smoothly the next couple days.

insane work week so far..but i am enjoying it and the residents. i already have 3 favorites :)

things now-a-days

okay, i have been thankful for the people in the military and all but living in wichita has changed that. i am definitely MORE thankful since living here. Considering almost anywhere you go you see SOMEONE in a uniform, it just reminds me to pray for our troops more than ever now.

i got a JOB!! thank goodness!! its at a retirement home being a server. i LOVE it so far! the place has just been open a little over a year so there are a lot for the servers to learn. and for being such a new building the kitchen is TINY and the dish pit, lets just say that if they thought they ever wanted to be serving a lot of people, there is no way that dishwasher's space could do a big group with turnover. all the people there are very nice and i am so excited to actually have a job!

things on my mind..

yesterday i read in the newspaper (well online) that my old church might be going into foreclosure. i understand that some things they did were wrong, but not everyone is perfect. i think we need to start praying for our churches. even if people think this church was horrible and everything, everyone makes mistakes. this pastor was an EXCELLENT speaker and i LOVED listening to him.

somewhere in the Bible it talks about the end times and the financial downfall of churches. we need to remember to pray for our churches, because no matter how great you think your church is everyone makes mistakes and there will be more that fall.

anyway, its stopped snowing in wichita, thaaaaaaank goodness! i am tired of the snow and winter all together. i can not WAIT for spring and SUMMER! we had two REALLY nice days here in wichita of 70+ degree weather and then the snow crap came. like i said i am READY for spring and summer.

busy day..

first i tried going to bed early because i was leaving early in the morning to go to kansas city. the last time i looked at the clock was 3:30am then i was WIDE awake at 5am. i watched the minutes go by until my alarm finally went off at 5:45. After  getting ready i finally left for kc.

in the car, the whole 2 1/2 hours, i listened to worship songs and it was AWESOME. ive always thought that worship in a church service needs to be longer and having the full 2 1/2 hours to worship before going in to church was incredible! i love our church in kc, everything about it, but i just wish there was more singing. yesterday the choir did an awesome special and then the other song they did was one of the ones i listened to most of the way up.

then i went to visit a friend at her church and got to watch her in action. it was awesome! and i got hugs from her kids, which i love and miss!

then i FINALLY got to call my mom and talk to her since it was after church and she thought i was in wichita still :) so i talked to her until i got to her house and then she all of a sudden said "someone just came in my house!!" STILL not knowing it was me. so i walked in her bedroom and she looked at her phone and then looked at me. it was awesome seeing my mom again! ive missed her and it was good to see her again after 2 1/2 weeks.

we had lunch and went shopping and hung out at her house. i can't wait to see her again in a couple weeks!

on my way home i was falling asleep and couldnt call anyone because i had almost no battery left and wanted to save it, just in case. i finally got home at 9pm and had dinner with the hubs. it was a good trip and i can't wait to go back.

i like living in wichita i just like going home too.

soooo....wichita.

we moved here about 3 weeks ago and im just now starting to like it.

i dont get out much, but there really isnt a need to. i look for jobs on the internet and apply and send resumes that way. the couple days i did go out looking, no one was hiring and the ones that were said send a resume to my email. BUT i think i *hopefully* found a family to nanny for. this couple has triplets! 2 boys and 1 girl. the kids are SO cute! and so are the parents!

one thing i dont like about being here is not knowing ANYONE. i cant wait to start going to a church every week and get involved. i miss being in a bible study and working with the kids. i miss my family and my work and joels family and my church.

one thing that i do like is that i have been cooking and baking a lot more. which is not always good for the waist line, BUT im glad im getting used to cooking. i still call my mom all the time about everything when i have questions but shes an awesome cook so im glad i have her to call. i miss her like crazy and it seems to be REALLY bad today.

another thing, i gave up diet coke on the 10th of january and have only had half a mountain dew since then. i decided to do this because i hear from EVERYONE that its bad for you, blah blah blah, but i am involved in 2 weddings this summer and want to lose weight, now i just need to get my butt outside and start running.
